In preparing for the 114th Annual Diocesan Council, to be held at the Embassy Suites by Hilton San Marcos Hotel and Conference Center in San Marcos, TX on Feb. 22-24, 2018, the diocesan Nominating Committee is developing the roster of nominees who are called to serve the Church through the elected offices of the Diocese. The related web subpages WILL contain the offices to be filed with job descriptions along with the Episcopal Church Canons and the Diocesan canons that apply. A full copy of the Constitutions and Canons of the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas is available at the Bishop Jones Center or on the diocesan website at: www.dwtx.org.
The Nominating Committee asks you to prayerfully reflect on the offices to be filled, on the leaders within your congregation and on the opportunity for the Diocese to receive the grace-filled blessings of your engaged leadership. We invite you now to identify members of your congregation and to submit their names for consideration of inclusion in the election to the various offices, which will be filled by the 2018 Diocesan Council. All names will be considered, but due to the changing needs of the diocese, not every name submitted will necessarily appear on the ballot.
Click here for an Online Biographical Form to make nominations. This form can be completed on screen, saved to your hard drive using “save as”, and e-mailed. The text fields have character limits, but if needed a supplemental page may be included. Once complete, nomination forms should be signed and submitted to Laura Woodall in the Bishop’s office along with a digital photograph (.jpg format). Nomination forms are due back by November 1, 2017. (firstname.lastname@example.org or fax to 210.824.1312)
When encouraging people to submit their names for nomination please remind them that their willingness to share their leadership skills is vital to the ministry and mission of the Diocese. Please also remind them that this is a discernment process, thus not all names will make the final ballot. However, individuals may be nominated from the floor of Council.
The Committee is grateful for your support and active participation in the nomination process this fall. Your prayerful involvement and leadership will lead to the continued renewal of the World as we work hand-in-hand to make God’s dream of a new creation a reality.
