It’s a Family Reunion. It’s a Fiesta. It’s an Evening to Celebrate the Lillibridge Family.
Friday, February 24, 2017
5:30 pm – Reception with Sangria and Mariachis
6:15 pm – Seated Dinner
7:00 pm – A loving “roast” of Bishop Lillibridge
8:00 pm – Live Music from “Down for the Count”
9:30 pm – Compline
Begin the evening at a “Reception with View” – a view of Corpus Christi Bay from the second floor of the AmericanBank Center while listening to Mariachi Rio. There will be several cash bars (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) available, so bring those “greenbacks” as no credit cards accepted. And as a special treat the host committee has added Sangria to our choices at the bars.
At 6:15 pm our seated dinner is designed to serve as a time of family reunion. Find a chair with friends and catch up on the latest happenings around the diocese. This fiesta menu will begin with appetizers during the Reception, then Southwest Salad, followed by Chicken and Green Chile Enchiladas, Spanish Rice and Calabaza. And of course, what’s a fiesta without Churros & Strawberries with Chocolate Sauce for dessert. For those who require a vegetarian entree, an alternative will be available. Note: During registration indicate any special food needs (Gluten free, vegetarian, etc.) You will receive a special card to display in front of your place setting at all Council meals.
Our main attraction, the loving “roast” begins at 7:00 pm when Bill Pettus (Good Shepherd, Corpus Christi), Steve Herlich (St. David’s, San Antonio), and Bishop Reed will all regale us with stories (some even true) about the ups and downs, the fun and funnier, in short, the life and times of Catherine and Gary Lillibridge.
And what is a going away party without a wonderful band. At 8:00 pm sit back and enjoy the sounds of Down for the Count featuring two of our own, Matt Wise and Gene Dowdy. This band’s unique style has been shaped by many talented musicians and their set lists regularly include covers from: Slaid Cloeaves, Nickel Creek, The Eagles, Ryan Adams, Old Crow Medicine Show, John Denver, Robert Earl Keen, Jr., Jack Ingram, Lyle Lovett, Johnny Cash, and many others. Down for the Count has certainly found their own sound, fusing the Bluegrass and Americana genres and occasionally letting their strings wander over into the Pop and Classic Rock arenas as well. Something for everyone! To find out more about Down for the Count click here.
It just wouldn’t be Council if we didn’t close our evening with a short Compline service about 9:30 pm. Don’t miss a minute of this wonderful evening as the good folks of Good Shepherd Corpus Christi, help us honor and thank the Lillibridges for their service to this diocese.
The cost of the Banquet is included for Clergy, Delegates, Alternates and Clergy Spouses. Registered visitors to Council ($35) and registered exhibitors (cost of booth) may purchase banquet tickets for $40 each. Read more about the banquet here.
