The Rt. Rev. David Reed welcomes Patty Clark, CEO of Corpus Christi Metro Ministries, the 2020 Council in Action partner. Corpus Christi Metro Ministries, whose mission is to feed, shelter, and build futures for our hungry, homeless, and ill neighbors in the Corpus Christi and Nueces County community.
She welcomed Diocesan Council to Corpus Christi, thanking everyone assembled for the donated Hygiene Kit items. She shares “On a day like today, when it is cold and wet, I hope you can imagine how important a pair of socks is to that homeless neighbor who is cold and wet. Or for the mother who does live in shelter, but has no heat in that home where she provides for her children. And when we do return to our usual hot weather, those wash clothes you have brought can be an incredible blessing, whether it is used to wipe their face, put it under their cap, or just use it to wipe down for a dry bath.
Every single item you have given us provides us with the opportunity to begin to restore little bits of dignity to those who have been separated from a safe place, from love and belonging, so I ask you not to see your donations as things, but as gifts of grace to the more than 7,000 people we serve every year.”
She invited everyone to visit the Council In Action booth on Friday, to help assemble hygiene kits using the donated items and to pray for the people who will receive them.
