2020 Council Registration Opens

Council Registration is now open and will close Monday, February 10, 2020. All clergy, clergy spouses, delegates, alternates, visitors, childcare attendees, and exhibitors must register online to attend Diocesan Council.

As part of registration for Council 2020, clergy and lay participants are required to select preferences for two workshop sessions, which will take place during Council on Friday afternoon. Workshop topics have been selected to broaden knowledge, build ministry skills, and foster connections between Council attendees from throughout the diocese. All workshops will take place within the American Bank Center; a 2020 Workshops Catalog is available to help individuals select which workshops to attend.

Preparing for Council

  • End of Year Parochial Reports: All year-end reports and 2019 financial audit instructions are available online. Church reports must be complete and submitted to the diocesan office by February 1, 2020 in order to vote at Council.
  • Certification of Lay Delegates: In order to certify lay delegates in accordance with the diocesan Constitution and Canons, a separate process than online registration, the clergy or lay person in charge of a congregation must complete and sign three copies of the Lay Delegate Certification Form, then send one copy each to the diocesan bishop, the diocesan secretary, and the Council Registration Chair, no later than February 1, 2020.
  • Youth in Action Update: After ten years of service, Youth in Action will take a sabbatical during Council 2020. Bishop Reed reminds congregations that the minimum age for Council Delegates and Alternates is sixteen years old, and invites youth to be present at Council in these roles, or as Visitors. Meredith Rogers, Director of Youth Ministry at St. Mark’s, San Antonio has been named the diocesan Youth Registrar and tasked with reimagining diocesan youth ministry events in partnership with diocesan staff, including future service opportunities and a West Texas youth delegation to the Episcopal Youth Event (EYE) taking place July 7 – 11, 2020.
