Youth In Action 2016 – We want YOU to say YES!

Love Does . . . Youth in Action

Youth In Action is entering its seventh year of service. Like Diocesan Council, this event has become a time of reunion, renewal, and youth business. That business is joining us and saying yes to service. Because as Bob Goff says, “love doesn’t just keep thinking about it or planning for it…Love does!”

Who should attend:

All students in 6th through 12th grade are invited to attend as well as adult youth workers and volunteers.  NOTE: Each church will provide chaperons that are available the entire weekend (cannot be participating in Council) for their youth. Each chaperon must have completed the Safeguarding God’s Children course in the last five years and have his or her own vehicle to aid in transporting students. [Ratio, 5:1]

Location & Contacts:

Headquarters for Youth in Action will be at St. John’s Episcopal Church (2500 N. 10th Street; McAllen, TX 78501). Mission Projects:

In the Diocese of West Texas, the congregations and missions in the Valley Convocation work constantly with a variety of ministries in the area. This means that the work projects for Youth In Action 2016 will be varied. You can find your passion in any of them! Some of us will visit La Posada House and assist with a work project on site alongside residents of the shelter. Other volunteers will work with the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley, Inc. and help them to feed our neighbors. In addition we will send many of our volunteers to assist in cleaning Camp Red, a youth camp in the Rio Grande Valley with a growing program. Our work there will help to create change and enhance their ability to impact lives.
