In preparing for the 111th Annual Diocesan Council, to be held at the Embassy Suites San Marcos, Hotel, Spa & Conference Center on Feb. 26-28, 2015, the diocesan Nominating Committee is developing the roster of nominees. The related web subpages WILL contain the offices to be filed with job descriptions along with the Episcopal Church Canons and the Diocesan canons that apply. A full copy of the Constitutions and Canons of the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas is available at the Bishop Jones Center or on the diocesan website at: www.dwtx.org.
The Nominating Committee is seeking the names of those individuals who may be called to serve in a variety of offices for the Diocese. They invite your participation in this process through steadfast prayer, and by the raising up of faithful, skilled leaders from within your own congregation. Those who feel called to potentially minister in this capacity, and whose names are submitted, will be considered for nomination and possible election to the various offices which will be filled by the 2015 Diocesan Council.
The theme for the 2015 Council is “Called to Serve.” This theme is found throughout the Bible, and is especially prevalent in the New Testament. It is a charge to the followers of Jesus to be servants. Jesus himself states that his ministry is one of service. The Apostle Paul stated in his First Letter to the Corinthians that we are to be, “servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.” With this theme in mind I encourage you seek out nominees who will live into their charge as Christian servants. The Diocese of West Texas is blessed each year by the servant leaders elected as well as by their particular gifts and abilities.
Click here for Biographical Form to make nominations. Please feel free to photocopy as many copies as needed. When encouraging people to submit their names for nomination please remind them that their willingness to share their leadership skills is vital to the ministry and mission of the Diocese. Please also remind them that this is a discernment process, thus not all names will make the final ballot. However, individuals may be nominated from the floor of Council.
