Good Samaritan Community Services – Rio Grande Valley needs your help.
In the summer of 2009, our call to serve those in need led us to open the Good Samaritan Community Services Rio Grande Valley center in Pharr, Texas. Activities and programs at the new center are dedicated to addressing the critical needs of youth and are focused on the four pillars of: Educational Achievement, Reducing Risky Behavior, Self-Sufficiency, and Community Engagement.
Good Samaritan Community Services of the Rio Grande Valley provides an enriched environment for the at-risk and impoverished youth of the community. All GSCS’ youth programs and activities have been intentionally selected to foster positive growth and development in a highly at-risk target population of 6-12 year olds. To achieve outcomes in Youth Development Services, we offer the following services: Arts and Crafts, Nutritional Snacks, Team Building, Girl and Boy Scouts, Academic Support, Asset Building, One on One Tutoring, and Mentoring.
Housed on the campus of Trinity Church, Pharr, the project serves 125 Youth, ages 6-12, annually. These youth are from low-income families and are at a high risk of falling behind in school. To keep our vision and mission healthy and thriving, we depend on the compassion of our friends and neighbors. Good Samaritan Community Services has been at the heart of local philanthropy for 58 years, and the countless individuals and corporations that have seen us through the years are all part of a great Texas legacy.
