CIA - Council in Action

CIA Part 1 - Disaster Relief Kits

This year, Council is focusing specifically on seeing and responding to the needs of the world in our communities at home and in other countries.  As we did last year, Council delegates, alternates, clergy and visitors will be asked to bring supplies and spend some time packing disaster relief kits.  In 2007, these kits were distributed within hours of the tornadoes hitting Piedras Negras and Eagle Pass in April.  The completed kits will be distributed again as needs arise.  Having kits packed and ready for delivery means affected families will receive needed goods immediately when a disaster strikes.

CIA Part 2 - Vacation Bible School

As a part of Council in Action, Christ Episcopal Church, San Antonio (host church) is collecting items for El Buen Pastor Anglican Church in Piedras Negras, Mexico.  Christ Church is planning a church-wide mission trip to facilitate, among other things, a community Vacation Bible School for the children of the Piedras area in July, 2008. Council delegates, alternates, clergy and visitors are also asked to bring supplies for the children of Piedras Negras, Mexico.

Bring supplies (see the lists below) and deliver them to the registration area at Municipal Auditorium, then join others as we put our mission and ministry into action.  Disaster Relief Kits will be distributed through the diocesan disaster relief effort and the World Mission Department.

CIA Part 3 - Electronic Recycling (for full information click to Computer Recycling webpage)

New this year - The diocesan Environmental Stewardship Committee has arranged for a truck from Corona Visions to be in the St. Mark's parking lot on Thursday, Feb. 21, from 10 am to 1pm to accept old electronics for recycling.  Corona Visions has been providing electronic recycling to San Antonio since 1997.  Computer hard drives are erased using the same standard as the US Department of Defense.  The truck will be there only one day and only until 1:00 pm.
